Our Off-Ice training is a big part of helping skaters improve faster and stay safe. Figure skating is a tough sport that asks a lot from athletes.
Pre-Can & CanSkate
Pre-CanSkate: (Ages 3-5/Beginners)
This program is perfect for young skaters who are new to the ice! Through this program designed specifically for Pre-School aged children, skaters will begin to explore skating in a fun and safe learning environment - including the use of circuits, games and creative fun!
CanSkate (Learn to Skate)
CanSkate is a fun and dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on basic skill development for all ages. It emphasizes physical literacy and the fundamentals of ice sports or recreational skating. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve skills for figure skating, hockey, speed skating, or just for fun, CanSkate is for you. The program is taught by trained coaches, assisted by trained program assistants, in six stages that cover balance, control, and agility. Skaters progress at their own pace in a motivating, group-based environment with music, and activities.
Note: The use of a CSA approved hockey helmet is mandatory for participation in both Pre-CanSkate & CanSkate programs.
Junior Star Skate
The Junior Star program is the bridge between CanSkate and STARSkate, designed for skaters who may wish to pursue figure skating.
In a fun, group-based environment, skaters progress from learning the fundamentals to developing more advanced elements, preparing them for the STAR 1 level and potential opportunities to compete in regional competitions.
The Junior Star program emphasizes fun, participation, and skill development.
STARSkate
The STARSkate program offers skater of all ages the opportunity to further develop their figure skating skills in areas such as ice dance, skating skills, free skate, and interpretive skating.
At our club, STARSkate is taught in a group format, with skaters divided by skill level to ensure quality instruction and progression. While lessons are primarily group-based, skaters also receive some individual guidance from professional coaches within these sessions, rather than through separately scheduled private lessons.
The program is designed to be progressive and sequential, skater have the opportunity to participate in Skate Canada's nationally standardized testing system. As they advance, skaters may also choose to explore competitions at the regional level.
