MEET OUR COACHING TEAM

At Skate Indian Head, our coaching team works in close collaboration with the Board of Directors to deliver a well-rounded training program that includes both on-ice and off-ice instruction. We use a unique team coaching strategy that ensures every skater receives the guidance best suited to their individual development, helping them reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

A key part of our coaching success comes from our dedicated Program Assistants (PAs). These enthusiastic skaters play an essential role in our CanSkate programs by assisting coaches, demonstrating skills, leading activities, and acting as role models for younger skaters. Their weekly contributions help create a vibrant and encouraging atmosphere that supports growth both on and off the ice.

Our coaches bring a wealth of talent, experience, and passion to the rink. Learn more about them below.

Catherine Okolita

Junior Coach

I am 17 years old and have been skating for 13 years. I have worked as a program assistant for 7 years with Skate Fort Qu'Appelle, before moving into coaching 4 years ago. I've enjoyed being able to be part of hundreds of kids skating experiences through several clubs, including Lipton Skating Club, Skate Fort Qu'Appelle, Skate Indian Head, and Wolseley Skating Club. I am a certified Skate Canada CanSkate and Regional coach, as well as a certified STAR 1-5 Assessor. My favourite part about coaching is connecting with each of the skaters and seeing them progress throughout the season!  Aside from figure skating, I play competitive girls' softball and I also do lots of other sports just for fun! I am actively involved in my communities as the founder of a not-for-profit called Catherine's Cause. I am in grade 12 and I distance learn through the Sask DLC and maintain an above 96% average. A fun fact about me is that I LOVE to read and I'm a super fast reader. My goal is to read 60 books this year and it looks like I'm on track to pass that way before the end of the year!

I'm looking forward to having an awesome skating season!

Program Assistants

Program Assistants (PAs) are a vital part of Skate Indian Head’s CanSkate programs. These dedicated skaters support our coaches by helping deliver both on-ice and off-ice instruction. They demonstrate skills and progressions, lead circuits and group activities, and assist with setting up and taking down equipment. PAs also help with attendance, contribute to Ice Show choreography, and lead CanSkate group performances. Most importantly, they serve as positive role models, inspiring younger skaters through their leadership and enthusiasm.
